Aisin Mobility present RoadTrace at the Graham Feest road safety conference in Hull UK.

We were again privileged to support the Graham Feest road safety conferences in the UK this week. The Hull conference is the flagship event and was well attended by road safety professionals from across the sector. This year’s theme was “Reducing Casualties by Stopping Crashes”. Mike Harper, UK highway consultant for AISIN Mobility, presented a new opportunity for highways professionals to better understand the risk areas on their road networks using the RoadTrace system from AISIN. Intervening in high-risk areas on road networks has always been retrospective, by necessity, based on where serious accidents have occurred. Now, for the first time, we can understand in detail where ‘near misses’ are occurring on the road network and the severity of the risk. From AISIN work in Germany, we know that typically 125 near misses occur at a location before a serious accident occurs. So, by using RoadTrace, we can anticipate where accidents are likely to occur, using insights based on sensor data from connected vehicles already on the road. AISIN delivery partner Gaist is providing the RoadTrace system for Local Authorities in England and Wales, incorporated into their asset management and road safety systems. Working together with local authorities and strategic roads managers, AISIN look forward to contributing to reducing casualties by stopping crashes.
