Next Generation Navigation

The Next Generation Navigation (NGN) project aims to design and develop the technological base of the new generation of vehicle navigation systems produced by Aisin Mobility.

These systems will integrate advanced capabilities for personalization and customization, taking into account environmental aspects, as well as seamlessly connecting in-vehicle navigation functions with those on a mobile phone. In this way, we provide an extended and high-quality user experience in order to meet challenges of tomorrow's mobility.

Aisin Mobility has the ambition to revolutionize the offer in the field of car navigation through a new range of "MaaS Guidance" services.

The navigation system will be supplemented by a range of connected services, connecting the user to different mobility options according to their personal habits and preferences that the system will learn.

The Next Generation Navigation (NGN) project aims to design, develop and validate the technological building blocks that will allow Aisin Mobility to constitute “MaaS Guidance” products in line with the specific needs of car manufacturers. Compared to existing systems, the functional objectives pursued in this project are as follows:

  • Personalization, adapting route calculations and proposing itineraries and even modes of transport according to the habits and preferences of the driver.

  • Contextualization, taking into account the circumstances of the trip (professional meeting, vacation, etc.).

  • Smart & connected: seamlessly connecting these navigation and guidance functions across the vehicle and smartphone applications (navigation and others), as well as incorporating external data from V2V, V2X, smart cities and floating car data.

  • Respect for the environment: taking into account the latest environmental constraints (low emission zones) and the specific features of new engines (EV, PHEV, etc.).

  • "Comfort" services: providing personalized solutions for parking, automated payments, mobility preferences, first and last mile guidance.

This project functionally complements the research carried out by the consortium of the VIADUCT and MobiLearn projects in order to offer drivers a user experience far beyond current navigation systems.
